2009 Plans

Now at age 7, Mitchell will again compete in the 50cc Division 1 class aboard his recently upgraded KTM Mini Adventure. This class has proven invaluable in 2008 for building both his skills and confidence. Whilst a move to 50cc Division 2 or even 65cc is technically possible, Mitchell is progressing well at the moment and is expected to finish near the front of the field in his class in 2009.

Given Curtis’ later start in his racing life (being two years senior to Mitchell) his skills development will be augmented by competing in two classes in ’09, 65cc and 85cc. We recently purchased a second-hand Suzuki RM85 for this purpose which he has recently started riding in preparation for the '09 season.

While weather permits, we'll continue to actively train over the off-season throwing some additional tracks and bush riding into the mix, with a view of creating well-rounded racers.

It is our intention to provide both clinic and personal coaching for each of the boys throughout 2009, accompanied by a more thorough and frequent training regime. We believe that each boy has the potential to achieve good results in MX, and as parents we wish to provide them with the opportunity to excel at their chosen activity. Both boys are passionate about MX (with Gareth - our almost-3 year old - well and truly sharing the dream!)

In addition to racing at all WAJMCC club events, we plan on joining a second club to vary riding experience, taking the boys out of their hard-pack comfort zone. This will lead to participation in additional open events and state rounds.

Given the recent addition of a third bike, we also plan on investing in an enclosed race trailer, pressure washer and a number of other essentials, to help streamline racing and maintenance operations.
