About Bacon Brothers Racing
If you’re reading this, then there’s a reasonable chance that you already know our family (or at least me, Rod Bacon).

Basically, as Dad; I’m the Team Manager, Mechanic and Sponsor, while mum gets to wash the dirty riding gear and keep food up to the ever-hungry mob. Two of our three sons are currently racing (Curtis – 9 and Mitchell – 7) with a third (Gareth) eagerly awaiting his debut in 2010 (?) when he turns the ripe old age of 4.

We moved to WA in 2007 from Melbourne, where our family enjoyed the social aspects of motorcycling as members and office bearers of a long-established club of around 200 families (Whittlesea Township Motorcycle Club), located in Melbourne’s outer northern suburbs.

Arriving in the beautiful Perth hills, we discovered that the motorcycle scene is significantly different in WA, with more of a focus on racing and less opportunity for pure social riding. Living close to Eric Walter Park, we decided to join the boys up to WAJMCC and go racing.

With our first year now under our belt, we’ve learnt a lot about the life of an MX racing family; the rigours, the costs, the headaches and the potential rewards.

Armed with this knowledge, we commence serious preparation for the 2009 season with a view to capitalising on progress made throughout ’08.
